100 years old bath house

‘Inariyu’ is a local bath house (‘sento’) which is more than 100 years old since established in 1910 (Meiji era,43rd), being managed by family (smiley mother (Micchan), tough-looking father, and charming daughter).
You can experience Japanese bathing lifestyle off the beaten track in Kyoto!

In earlier days when they were started, all areas in the west were covered by fields and you could even see the lights in far Arashiyama and Uzumasa at night.
The town has grown now and this sento is right beside the 800m long shopping arcade which is one of the longest among those in city-centers in west Japan, being an everyday must-go place for locals.
This shopping street has variety of shops, for grocery, deli, knick-knacks, café, clothing, and izakaya-style bars to be a hidden tour spot where you can experience the Japanese locals’ lifestyle.

It should be fun to drop by on your sightseeing course.

You can enjoy strolling through this shopping street to go around historical spots such as Nijo-castle, Shinsen-en, Nijo-jinya, Takenobu-Inari shrine, and Matatabi-sya (Yasaka shirine’s subsidiary shrine).
Portable shrines called ‘mikoshi’ appear for Gion festival. Our place is faced with the house for the gathering of ‘Sanjodaiwakaju‘ who carry mikoshi. They use our sento to prepare themselves in Happi coats. You can see the scene of Gion festival you can’t find in the tour magazine.

Only in Japan!! Sento with ‘THORON ONSEN’

Our place is the only one local sento which uses Thoron onsen apparatus in Japan.
Thoron onsen is an artificial onsen created by Thoron elements, very similar to ‘freshly supplied onsen’ water. And it’s permitted by Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare to advertise its 10 efficacies for adjusting physical conditions.
Warm up to the core of the body with far infrared rays.

And, the far infrared power of ‘Thoron’ absorbs 2mm into depth of skin to warm up the core of your body in a short time.
Difference from super sento.

Some maybe wondering what the difference is between ‘sento’ and ‘super sento’.
Sento’s price is controlled by regulation, but super sento’s and onsen’s aren’t.
That keeps sento price cheaper than the other bathing styles.
We use ozone sterilizer apparatus, not chlorine sterilization.

Thoron Hot Spring is an artificial hot spring using Tron Sodium (‘sand’ of ‘natural ore’), which has 10 effects to regulate physical disorders.

Abundant groundwater

Shinsen-en is a temple which used to cover an area 16 times as large as now in the Heian era (started in 794). The perennial water resource ‘Shinsen-en spring’ was moved to Nijo-castle area as the resource for the moat.
Even today, the moat and all ponds in Nijo-castle and Shinsen-en temple’s pond are all supplied with underground water.

Our neighborhood has underground water rich in minerals, and a lot of sake brewing and dyeing businesses used to operate in this town.
This sento uses the water from underground water vein connected to Ninomaru palace in Nijo-castle.
Our cold-water tub has freshly served water to make it even colder than other bath houses.
